World health experts, including the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the World Health Organization, are predicting that there will likely be a third wave of the virus in the coming weeks. Why: “We want to do everything possible to prevent the spread of the H1N1 virus,” said Dr. Clark Pritts, who sees patients at the Novant Urgent Care in Shallotte. “Receiving the vaccine is the most effective way to do that.”
“We’re strongly encouraging everyone to receive this vaccine as soon as possible,” said Dr. Michael Heter, who sees patients at the Novant Urgent Care in Southport. “After receiving the vaccine, it takes 8-10 days to have full immunity and world health experts are still predicting a third wave of the virus.”
